How can I make my weekly neiborhood magazine get a bigger audience?
U MUST READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a neiborhood magazine I give out every week. Everyone loves it even the parents. How would i be able to make it look like a magazine (free websites and programs!) And I would like to know how i would be able to get a larger audience like beyond my neiborhood! I NEED ANSWERS!!!!
1) Try to get a bit of sponsorship/advertisers so that freebies or discount coupons can be included in the mag.
2) Readers involvement - not sure what your mag is about, but you could get them to write in, contribute or feature them.
3) Catchy cover lines/ famous person featured on cover - able to grab attention.
4) Campaigns/ events - if you have the budget.
5) Branding - have a special logo, tagline attached to it, give out free merchandise (e.g. tshirts, mugs, badges, but they’ll have to look cool) so that it’ll become a talking point. Once you get a “cult following” perhaps non-readers will want to find out what it’s all about.

To make it look more like a magazine, use interesting art work or photography on shiney pamphlet paper. Perhaps the photography should be of a familiar place in the cities that you want to distribute it too. To get a larger audience you need to put in info on events taking place in and around the local area. Also research other articles on personal relationships that people can relate to. Put in a good Seasonal fiction short story. Puzzles included that don’t take rocket scientry to work. and how about a color book page for the kids to color? If you want to expand beyond your neighborhood, you’ll have to do the distance and distribute them until it gets a take off.
